Scholarship Info:

Michael Robertson Jones, an accomplished young guitarist, composer and music entrepreneur died unexpectedly on February 14, 2009. Known as Mikee to his friends and family, he was lead guitarist in several bands including the Energy Field Band and the MRJ trio, and played solo and sit in at many local venues in Maryland, Florida, and New Orleans. Mikee was CEO of his own music internet business, Lucid Arts Entertainment LLC, a label rep for Hyena and Big Deal Records, and a tireless fundraiser for charitable causes including Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity and Hurricane Katrina Relief. Clearly, Mikee left a legacy larger than his 23 years in this world, giving freely of his time, energy, and talents to friends, family and community. A native of Chestertown, Maryland, Mikee earned a degree in music industry studies from Loyola University of New Orleans, where he grew to love the people, the city and the University. Mikee’s friends, family and colleagues, in partnership with Loyola University, established the Mikee Jones Music Scholarship in February of 2010. This initiative assists students who are up and coming musicians, music entrepreneurs, and music business leaders with the cost of tuition, books, musical instruments and equipment to help them realize their dreams of making music careers and ventures become reality through their education at Loyola…just like Mikee did.

As of 2023 we have raised and endowed over 150,000 dollars and have given out over 10 scholarships to late year music students at Loyola of New Orleans.
